The Clone Wars turned Rik into a cynical opportunist. After being exiled from Kaller and abandoned by his love, he set up shop on Brentaal IV. He is now the proprietor of Rik's Cantina, a popular watering hole and gambling den - as well as a haven for refugees of the Galactic Civil War. Located at the intersection of two major hyperspace lanes, his Cantina has thrived as a place to find all sorts of Black Market goods. Rik has long held the stance that he doesn't support either side in the war. While he has gained a reputation as a cold-hearted cynic, he has often put himself at risk to smuggle refugees out of the Core Worlds and away from the Empire.

Rik's Cantina has tried to stay out of the war, but intensified action in the Bormea sector is now challenging that neutrality. The New Republic is buying up huge quantities of starship parts and supplies. And while the Empire is clinging to life, they're willing to pay a premium for any intel on the New Republic's secret project. Rik hopes he can profit from the sudden interest from both sides. And if he can use that money to help the less fortunate ... he'll pretend he's too cool to care.
