Summary
Satia is an ace TIE pilot and Baroness from Fedalle, a wealthy and industrialized world along the Hydian Way and seated in the Core Worlds. She and her aged parents have benefited tremendously from the order and stability brought by the Empire, and as such Satia is purely loyal to restoring it. She pilots a TIE Phantom (described further in "Notes") and is by all standards a fit, educated, cunning woman born to lead (AGI/INT/CUN/PRE to 3). Among her weaknesses are her patience, her nerves, and a curious dynamic with her younger (by 20 years) brother. Let's begin with Satia's character and explore the dramatic position she finds herself in now.
Background
Since childhood Satia has had a domineering and keen persona (+Deception/+Vigilance from Human Species). She observed her parents as they deftly navigated the social and political rapids found in Fedalle's upper-crust society. The Clone Wars brought little drama to her world, but the world's stability under the Republic afforded her comfort.
Satia turned 30 when the Clone Wars concluded, and the Jedi betrayed the Republic. Chasing the betrayal were rumors of splinter factions, Jedi-sympathizers, and Confederate subterfuge in the Core. Until then the noblewoman had been on a path to follow her parents into politics, but Satia had a nervousness about her--always a great restlessness. She enlisted with the Empire, using her status to fast-track her into an elite flight school. Her momentum (and luck) would take a little while longer to run short.
In very little time Satia proved herself to be a clever leader, and a master of various space warfare tactics. She could quarterback for an entire flight wing with confidence without letting the lives of her subordinates cloud her judgment--perfect for the role. Her short temper and unlevel head often lead her to sacrifice wantonly, but never on her own grounds. She connives her way into positions where she only ever needs to sacrifice others' wellbeing. The day she has to suffer her own loss is rapidly approaching.
She established a command role quite quickly, and she inherited the title "Baroness" from her elevated family status, setting the scene for where we are today.
Relationships
Satia's parents are alive and well, but quite old. In their late 80s the pair live a life of total luxury on their estates. Wanting for little, they are tended to by excessively well-compensated servers and butlers.
Her brother, on the other hand, poses a fascinating story tool. We know Satia is hot-headed and short-tempered, but her brother is the opposite. Gifted with a strange power (totally untrained Force sensitivity), Brevin was cast out of the family at age 10 when the Jedi betrayed the Republic, and powerful families fretted special children in the face of Imperial inquisition. His powers had never truly been revealed, but by 10 he had shown strange enough abilities that his parents were certain he'd been cursed with the same vile abnormalities the Jedi tapped into for their power. Brevin was a smear on the family name.
The Force has guided Brevin to the Rebel Alliance (now the New Republic), and in the name of freedom and equality he fights as a crack, hotshot pilot. He knows nothing of his [much] older sister, but she knows of him quite well. Satia has encountered Brevin in two different dogfights over the years now, and fighting back her training she found excuses to call off her wingmates each time, and even kicked/powered-down R6 at one point when her TIE had a lock on her brother's X-Wing.
Current State
Satia plans and executes her fights with sadistic flair. Focusing on the psychology of her foes, she takes joy in ambushing foes to break morale and head off any real conflict before it starts.
Her title as Baroness of Fedalle requires her to step away from work at regular intervals for extravagant superwealthy galas and functions. It is at these where she manipulates other titled pawns (counts and barons alike) to her benefit, managing her growing empire of wealth for the inevitable time that she hangs up her flightsuit and retires into the luxury of her family estate--micro-grav fountains and hanging, sentient plant gardens and all. More recently, though, in order to "play the game" she has begrudgingly attended courses on etiquette (+Charm) to better navigate the social scene.
Satia starts every typical day with early morning physical training (+Athletics), following that with a work session alongside R6-K1 on her starship (+Mechanics). A quick shower later, lunch is usually done over holovids and audio readings on historic battles and review sessions of Imperial tactics handbooks (+Warfare).
Not much of a gunslinger, Satia keeps a tweaked Relby K-23 at her hip. Lethal enough to cover her retreat or bore a hole in an unsuspecting victim's back, and small enough to fit in her cockpit's storage cabinet.
Playing Satia
So Satia is primed for a total ego break--her cunning and positioning has earned her status, but her behavioral flaws prime her for total humiliation and humbling. Encounters with her brother are likely to grow increasingly frequent, and as the Force continues to crash them together it seems inevitable that he'll soon learn who she is, and she'll have to decide how to handle him as his piloting prowess grows (and thus his ability to further extinguish the Empire's waning power).
Satia has taken countless talents across her Imperial Cadet and Pilot trees to establish herself as a deadly wing leader and individual ambusher. What direction will she be taken? As she nears her 50s will she let piloting take a backseat as she pours XP into Politico talents as she retires to her life of nobility? Will she grow increasingly hot-headed and zealous in her fight against the New Republic as a punishing and lethal pilot? Or will a combination of humiliation, the hypocrisy of her "terror attacks" against the Republic, and sibling drama bring her crashing down to her knees, with a potential defection in her future? And if she does...can she ever atone for the savagery she's already committed?
Satia is on the verge of a critical character moment. I almost wish I could play her to see where it leads...
